Prayer Walk
March 19, 2006
|

Not long ago, a small group of people held a prayer meeting in a living room and asked God to build a church. Avalon Church was born just a few months later in an elementary school and soon moved to a YMCA, where it would grow and flourish for three years. After moving to Timber Creek High School in early 2004, it tripled in size. Avalon Church continues to grow and our various ministries throughout the week continue to reach more people with the good news of Jesus Christ.

...and see what is not yet there. In a community where there are over 4000 preschoolers alone, can you see the need for a safe place where parents can trust that their children are nurtured and taught the truths that will shape their lives forever? Can you see a place where the youth of our neighborhoods can come throughout the week and experience what it means to have a true relationship with the One who made them? Can you see a place where men can interact with each other about real life challenges from a Biblical perspective? Can you see a place for women's Bible studies, community groups, pastoral counseling, and other ministries that touch people lives for all of eternity? Look forward in time for a moment and you will see Avalon Church.

...to reach this community for Him; we must build a place for people who aren't yet here, for they will surely come. There will be 50,000 people living in our community by the year 2010. How will we have relevant ministries with no place for them to meet? How can we best serve our community and be a spiritual resource for them without adequate facilities? God has given us the opportunity to fulfill our purpose. God has given us the opportunity to see the future. May we be faithful to the call!
